The All-Ukrainian Festival of Greek Song was established in 2011 at the initiative of the Federation of Greek Associations of Ukraine. It is dedicated to the memory of the popular singer of Greek origin Tamara Katsi, from the Greek village of Sartana in eastern Ukraine. Festival participants are artists over the age of 18 who compete in five categories. Each year, the hundreds of entries testify to how strongly the heart of Hellenism beats in Ukraine.
Since its founding in 1995, representing 92 Greek associations, the Federation of Greek Associations of Ukraine has made every effort to preserve the linguistic, historical, and cultural heritage of its ancestors. The “Great Celebration,” organised every two or three years in different cities across Ukraine, stands as compelling proof that Greek culture remains vibrant and evolving, and that Greece and Ukraine are bound by strong ties of friendship and shared values.
Thanasis and Marina Martinos responded positively to the request of the Greek Consulate in Mariupol to support the 2nd All-Ukrainian Festival of Greek Song (Mariupol, 17 November 2012).
