Intercongrès – Hellenic Committee of Byzantine Studies

The Hellenic Committee of Byzantine Studies (HCBS) has served since 1952 as the national body representing Greek Byzantine scholarship within the International Association of Byzantine Studies (IABS).
The Committee is responsible for organizing in Greece the Intercongrès, the “intermediate” congress convened between the two major International Congresses of Byzantine Studies. The Intercongrès brings together the Presidents and General Secretaries of the member countries of the IABS.
Its organization in Greece constitutes tangible recognition of the prominent position held by Greek Byzantinists within the international scholarly community.
AIGEAS AMKE has supported the organization of the Intercongrès in 2018 and again in 2024.
