The island belongs to the Municipality of the Heroic Island of Psara and constitutes one of the last natural paradises of the Eastern Aegean. Its stunning landscape, with rocky shores interrupted by sandy coves and crystal-clear waters, has remained unchanged over time.

Antipsara is among the refuges of the Yelkouan shearwater (Puffinus yelkouan) and is fully protected under the NATURA network. There are no buildings on the island, apart from two small chapels: Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Theologian. They were built by Psarian inhabitants, most likely in the late 19th century, and to this day are maintained by families from the island.

The Church of Saint John the Theologian, located on the eastern coast of Antipsara, is a small single-aisled, timber-roofed basilica. Over time, it suffered significant deterioration, making immediate restoration necessary in order to prevent its collapse. AEGEAS AMKE undertook the cost of the sea transport of the required materials, as well as a substantial part of the repair works and the fencing of the church.
