Archaeologist Maria Tsoupi approaches with knowledge and devotion a broad and relatively underexplored subject: the stone carvings of Arcadia—those architectural elements in stone, crosses, symbols, and rosettes that emerge from a deeply rooted and time-honored tradition of craftsmanship.
The volume focuses specifically on the stone reliefs of two pre-Revolutionary churches in Langadia—the Church of the Archangels (Pammegistoi Taxiarches) and the Church of Saint John the Forerunner—as well as the Church of Saint George in Stemnitsa.
