The Folk Songs of the Pomaks of Thrace

The two-volume work by Nikolaos Kokkas introduces readers to the musical tradition of the Pomaks of Thrace.
The publication presents the musical instruments, themes, and performance practices of their songs, along with an exploration of the pedagogical potential of the songs of the Rhodope region, offering educational proposals across various fields of study. It is further enriched with extensive photographic and archival material.
The accompanying DVD includes forty recordings made by the author in nine Pomak villages of Xanthi between 2001 and 2018.
