The history of the Boarding House began in 1983, when a core group of 38 families of people with intellectual disabilities, sharing common concerns and aspirations for their children, took the initiative to establish an association with the aim of creating a residential facility where they would have permanent accommodation under the best possible conditions of safety and care. In 1989, a plot of approximately 4 stremmas was purchased in Pallini, and in 1992 construction of the facilities began; they were officially inaugurated in 1997. Today, the Association of Parents and Guardians of People with Intellectual Disabilities “Agioi Anargyroi” includes 52 families. The Boarding House provides permanent accommodation under the best possible living conditions for 52 persons with severe intellectual disabilities. Its facilities include residential areas, creative activity workshops, an events hall, and a medical office.
Caregivers, nursing staff, educators, medical associates, and support personnel all contribute to fulfilling the Association’s mission: to foster in the residents the feeling that they are in their own safe home. The donations of AIGEA AMKE have contributed to achieving this goal and have provided significant support for the operation of the Boarding House.
