Kastoria is itself a monument of Byzantine and post-Byzantine art. This large-format volume, which publishes 147 icons dating from the 12th to the 16th century, is a luxurious 610-page edition featuring 290 color photographs, English captions, and an extensive English summary, making it accessible to an international readership.
The author of the publication, Emeritus Professor Efthymios Tsigaridas, regards it as his opus vitae and magnum opus, noting that “behind it lies a great deal of effort and labor, but also a fortunate culmination.”
