Annex of the War Museum, Athens

The house of Napoleon Zervas is located in the centre of Athens, at 9 Kallergi Street, within a residential complex that represents a typical pre-war classical residence in Greece. The house belonged to the General’s second wife, Aikaterini, who in 1997 expressed the wish to establish there the museum of EDES. Since 2008, the house has belonged to the War Museum, with the aim of operating as one of its annexes.
The operation of the annex was ultimately made possible thanks to the donation of AEGEAS AMKE. The technical works carried out included extensive building renovations, the installation of security and surveillance systems, and the construction of display cases for the exhibits, as well as various models and printed canvas displays. The museum presents heirlooms, photographic material, and dioramas, highlighting the united national resistance against the occupying forces during the period 1941–1944, as well as the life of General Zervas.
The inauguration of the Museum took place on 24 November 2022, marking the 80th anniversary of the blowing up of the Gorgopotamos bridge in 1942, in which Napoleon Zervas participated.
