The Hospital for Venereal and Dermatological Diseases “Andreas Syngros” was founded in 1910 by a bequest of Andreas Syngros, under the supervision of his wife Iphigenia. The first director of the hospital was the distinguished professor G. Θ. G. G. Fotinos. It was a pioneering hospital for its time, as it was the only one in Europe to provide free treatment for men and women suffering from venereal diseases. The “A. Today, “A. Sygros” is also an educational institution for the students of the Medical and Dental School of the University of Athens and the students of the Midwifery School. In addition to a large number of clinics, surgeries and laboratories, its premises house the only museum of infectious and skin disease models in Greece. With its donation, Aigeas AMKE contributed to the upgrading of one of the most important departments of the hospital.

DONATION OF THE NON-PROFIT CIVIL COMPANY AEGEAS

  • Renovation of the Histopathology Laboratory of the Pathology Department (Study, design and construction of special furniture).

The Hospital’s Pathology Department performs approximately 9,000 histological examinations and consultative opinions annually. It is one of the busiest departments in the hospital, as all surgical and biopsy specimens are submitted for testing in its laboratories. The donation of AIGEAS AMKE contributed to the upgrading of the operation of the department’s Histopathology Laboratory in order to enable the operation of the new tissue processing machine (tissue processing station). At the same time, the design and construction of special laboratory benches and chairs, the supply of special seating, the renovation of the E/M installations and the painting of the laboratory areas were carried out.
