The first nuns, together with Fr. Parthenios, a hieromonk from Mount Athos, arrived in the area of Thrakomakedones in July 1937. There, near the Byzantine chapel of Saint Nicholas, they began the construction of the monastery’s first wing, which was completed in 1962.
In 1973, the new katholikon of the monastery was founded and dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos. Its inauguration took place on 19 October 2003.
