“Passage into the Light”:

The digital exhibition “Passage into the Light”, hosted at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron Mousikis) in October 2020, presented to the wider public the results of the digitization project of the treasures preserved in many Holy Monasteries of Mount Athos, titled “Athonite Digital Ark.” This initiative of the Holy Community of Mount Athos is now digitally accessible to the global public through the internet.
The project was implemented over four years with co-funding from the European Union and includes digitized manuscripts, early printed books, documents, exceptional works of art, objects from special collections, and three-dimensional models of monuments, such as the revered Church of the Protaton and the Refectory of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi. It also features digital presentations of the monasteries and specialized educational digital applications.
For the first time, the sacred treasures of the Athonite monasteries—witnesses to the more than thousand-year-old Orthodox tradition of Mount Athos—were presented to the public, while aspects of everyday life in the Athonite State were also highlighted.
