The Church of Saint Theodosia stands just outside the castle (kasteli) of Akrotiri in Santorini, very close to its entrance, as Saint Theodosia is the patron saint of the settlement. It is a cross-in-square domed church built in 1640.
From 1731 to 1882, it was dedicated to the Monastery of Prophet Elias in Pyrgos. Since 1884, however, it has served as the main parish church of Akrotiri. The feast of the saint is celebrated with a large festival on 29 May.
The church’s bell tower, dating to the late 19th century, is three-storeyed and features pierced masonry with spindle-shaped openings, characteristic of Thera’s ecclesiastical architecture.
Through its donations, AIGEAS AMKE has made a significant contribution to the protection, conservation, and functional upgrading of this historic church.

DONATION OF THE NON-PROFIT CIVIL COMPANY AEGEAS

  • Architectural study for the reconstruction of the Holy Church’s bell tower, along with stabilization and restoration works..
