The Church of Saint Nektarios, located within the General Hospital of Lamia, was built and inaugurated in 1954 by the late Metropolitan Ambrosios of Phthiotis. It is dedicated to Saint Nektarios the Wonderworker, Bishop of Pentapolis.
For many decades, it has served as a source of spiritual support and hope for healing for patients, medical and nursing staff, as well as for residents of the wider region.

However, due to ground subsidence, which gradually resulted from the construction of the new hospital building (1998), the church developed serious structural problems and was deemed unsafe. In 2015, its operation was suspended for safety reasons.
Recognizing the church’s great importance as a source of comfort and spiritual relief for the faithful, Aegeas AMKE responded to the request of the Hospital’s Board of Directors and the Holy Metropolis of Phthiotis, undertaking the comprehensive restoration and structural consolidation of the church.

Within the framework of the project, extensive structural reinforcement works were carried out on the church’s load-bearing system, along with the stabilization and treatment of the surrounding subsoil. A new foundation slab was constructed both for the church and its forecourt, while the roof beams were reinforced and the roof tiles replaced.
At the same time, new window frames were installed, the interior and exterior surfaces were repainted, and the electromechanical installations were modernized. In addition, a platform lift was installed to improve accessibility, and the surrounding area was fully redesigned.
Finally, a new carved wooden iconostasis was constructed, and furnishings and liturgical items were supplied, thus completing the comprehensive restoration of the church.

The Service of the Blessing of the Opening of the Doors (Thyranoixia) of the restored church was held in an atmosphere of deep emotion on 8 November 2024, officiated by Metropolitan Symeon of Phthiotis.
On 9 November 2024, the inauguration ceremony, including the rite “Upon the Consecrated Holy Altar” (Epi Saleftheisis Agias Trapezis), took place in the presence of a large congregation of faithful.
