The Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Charalambos is the patron saint’s church of Lixouri and the wider region of Paliki. Each year, the feast of Saint Charalambos is celebrated with great solemnity and constitutes a major event for the town.
The first church was built around the mid-18th century. Over time, however, it was repeatedly damaged by earthquakes, the most devastating being that of 1953. More recently, the 2014 earthquake made necessary the upgrading of the church’s structural capacity and the restoration of its façades.
The project was carried out through the donation of Athanasios and Marina Martinos, which ensured the safe operation of the church.
