The Saint Efthymios Choir of Keratsini was founded in 1966 as a boys’ children’s choir. In 1982, a girls’ section was established, and since 1990 it has operated as a mixed children’s and youth choir. It is the oldest active children’s choir in Greece and constitutes a fruit of the spiritual work of Saint Efthymios, with a remarkable contribution to the spiritual and artistic field.
The choir has given concerts in many cities across Greece, invited by Holy Metropolises, as well as by public and private institutions. Many of the events in which it has participated have had a distinctly charitable character.
Aegeas AMKE has been a valuable supporter of the choir’s activities in recent years. Over the past two years, it provided support for the choir’s participation in the European Folk Choir Competition, held in Sweden from 2 to 6 November 2023, as well as for its participation in the 27th “Antonio Vivaldi” Competition, in the categories of Sacred Music and Folklore, which took place in Karpenisi from 29 June to 1 July 2024.
At this competition, the choir was awarded two Gold Medals.
Previous support from Aegeas AMKE included the choir’s participation in the INTERKULTUR International Choir Competition in Perugia, Italy (1–5 May 2019) and in Kalamata, Greece (22–25 September 2022).
