During the period 2023–2024, Aegeas AMKE supported the Municipality of Kalavryta in organizing two important concerts at the Panhellenic Heroon of the National Palingenesis of the Fighters of 1821.
The Municipality of Kalavryta aims to establish an annual major concert at the site of the Heroon, which, thanks to a donation from Aegeas AMKE, was conserved and restored.
The initiative began in 2021, with a concert by the ERT National Symphony Orchestra and the performance of Dionysios Solomos’ “Hymn to Liberty.” In 2022, it was followed by a concert featuring George Dalaras and the Estudiantina Orchestra of Nea Ionia, Volos.
On 11 August 2023, the Municipality of Kalavryta and the Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise “Cave of the Lakes of Kastria” organized a concert featuring Maria Farantouri and Manolis Mitsias.
The two acclaimed performers, accompanied by a group of distinguished musicians and choral ensembles, presented a programme of significant works by Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadjidakis, Thanos Mikroutsikos, Stavros Xarchakos, Manos Loizos, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Stamatis Kraounakis, and others.
Under the artistic direction of musician Vasiliki Nassi, choral ensembles of the Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise of Aigialeia (DIKEPA) participated, in collaboration with the Choir of the Cultural Association of Valimitika “Aeolos.”
On 11 August 2024, the Heroon hosted the magnificent concert of Stavros Xarchakos, which marked the highlight of the “Cultural Summer 2024” of the Municipality of Kalavryta. Hundreds of spectators experienced a truly unique musical event.
The great composer and conductor guided the audience through some of the most timeless songs of the Greek repertoire, joined by singer Dimitris Basis, vocalist Iro Saia, and his orchestra. The programme featured songs and melodies spanning the past six decades, all bearing his distinctive musical signature.
At the end of the concert, the audience offered the composer a prolonged standing ovation, as a sign of respect and recognition for his multifaceted work.
