The European Bread Museum was founded in 2005 in a historic mansion in Varnavas, Attica. Its aim is to introduce the general public to the cycle of bread—from sowing and kneading to the family table—as well as to the art of decorative bread, which reflects a tradition spanning centuries.
Today, the Museum displays more than 3,000 examples of decorative bread from Greece and 40 countries around the world, representing the largest collection of decorative and religious bread in Europe. Each year, educational programmes and exhibitions are organised, some of which—such as “The Roads of Bread”—travel throughout Greece.
AIGEA AMKE has supported the Museum’s operation by covering operating expenses and contributing to the organisation of exhibitions and publications.
