The book approaches with methodological rigor and scholarly precision the study of genealogical trees and blood ties among families of Santorini from the 14th to the 20th century, drawing on the archives of the Catholic Bishopric of Santorini.
Original documents, copies, and drafts bear the seals, signatures, and coats of arms of some of the most prominent families who lived on the island and, more broadly, in the Aegean.
The publication includes summaries in Italian and English, detailed indexes, full-color facsimiles of all the documents, and a special photographic insert dedicated to the Spartali family. A second photographic section presents Santorini as seen by European travelers from the 15th to the 18th century. The edition is accompanied by a digital disc containing a file with the transcriptions of the genealogical trees.
