In 2023 and 2024, excavation and conservation works were carried out as part of the systematic excavation conducted by the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades at the archaeological site of the ancient sculpture workshop at the “Floga” location in Paroikia, Paros, under the direction of archaeologist S. Detoratou and a team of scientific collaborators.
During the excavation, part of the building complex uncovered in the southwestern sector of the site was investigated. New walls were revealed, preserved to an impressive height and displaying carefully constructed masonry, while some retain monolithic thresholds made of schist. A deposit was also uncovered, containing a very large quantity of pottery, mainly dating to the Late Hellenistic and Roman periods, as well as a significant number of marble objects, the most notable being an unfinished sculpture of the goddess Aphrodite.
Other movable finds include clay moulds, seals, and lamps. Particularly noteworthy are heads of clay figurines depicting female figures, torso fragments of a winged figurine, and bone artefacts with perforations, which likely formed part of a necklace.
Following the completion of the excavation, conservation interventions were carried out, including consolidation and repointing of the walls of the uncovered structures.
