The Episcopal Residence of the Holy Metropolis of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki is housed in a listed neoclassical complex of buildings that dominates Heroes of the Polytechnic Square in Lavrion, one of the most significant neoclassical towns of Greece in the 19th century.The original building, constructed before 1888, consisted of a series of ground-floor shops. In the early 1900s, an upper floor for residential use was added to the corner section, while additional adjacent buildings were erected at the rear, forming the complex as it exists today.The complex was designated a historic listed monument in 1995 by the Ministry of Culture and in 1998 by the then Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works. In the long period before its comprehensive restoration by AIGEA AMKE, the buildings had undergone extensive alterations due to successive changes in use, including retail shops, dining establishments, and the Cine-Rex cinema.Restoration studies were prepared in 2010, and the works were completed in 2014. All the buildings are constructed of stone and covered with tiled roofs. All necessary consolidation and structural reinforcement methods were applied, both to the structural elements and load-bearing system, as well as to the decorative neoclassical fa\u00e7ade elements, many of which had nearly disappeared.Subsequently, modern electromechanical installations and audiovisual systems were installed, incorporating contemporary technological standards. <\/p>\n\n

The ground floor serves as the event space of the Episcopal Residence, including the foyer and auxiliary areas. The upper floor houses offices and guest accommodation, while at the rear of the complex there is a branch of the medical unit of the \u201cGALILEA\u201d Palliative Care Centre, which was founded in 2010 by Metropolitan Nikolaos of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki and operates under the auspices of the Holy Metropolis of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki.The complex features two outdoor areas: a small courtyard, which includes an independent entrance to the upper floor, and a larger courtyard with a garden, accessible from all parts of the complex. Today, it constitutes one of the city\u2019s landmark spiritual and cultural centres. <\/p>\n\n
