It belongs to the architectural type of the three-aisled basilica with a pitched roof.<br\/>A stone inscription carved on the lintel of the entrance bears the date \u201c25 August 1894,\u201d referring to the renovation of an earlier church that had most likely been built in the late 18th century.<br\/>The interior of the church is simple yet imposing, owing to the ten stone columns that define the three aisles and to the carved wooden templon with its despotic icons. The original flagstone floor has been preserved. The ceiling of the central nave is flat, made of wood, and decorated with geometric and floral motifs set within square or triangular frames. At its center dominates the icon of Christ Pantokrator.     <\/p>\n\n<p>Over time, and due to harsh weather conditions, the church had suffered significant deterioration. Guided by the need to safeguard and functionally upgrade the monument, AIGEAS AMKE undertook its restoration and conservation works, following the approval of the necessary studies by the Ministry of Culture.<br\/>In addition, a new bell tower was constructed and the church courtyard was refurbished.  <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DONATION OF THE NON-PROFIT CIVIL COMPANY AEGEAS<\/h4>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Study and construction of a new bell tower and landscaping of the surrounding area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conservation and restoration of the wooden ceiling of the Holy Church, the carved wooden templon, and its icons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Holy Church of Saint Nicholas is located in the southwestern part of the village of Ambliani.
