Metaxas. It is a three-aisle, two-storey basilica of imposing proportions. King Otto took a personal interest in its erection, issuing a decree ratifying the plans in 1851. Many Greeks living abroad, members of royal houses and ship-owners contributed to the cost of the construction of the church. Its marble iconostasis was carved in the period 1883-1899 by the Tenian marble-carver Georgios Vitalis and is considered one of the loveliest iconostases in the Cyclades.
