One year later, the renowned 1st Surgical Clinic began operating, which was staffed by pioneering doctors of the period, such as M. Geroulanos and Z. Kairis. Gradually, the hospital\u2019s capabilities were expanded, with the addition of new departments, equipment and clinics. The premises hosted also schools of Physiotherapy and Nursing. Today the Laiko is one of the largest university-teaching hospitals in Greece. It has also an annexe, in Sevastoupoleos Street, comprising units dealing with haematological diseases.       <\/p>\n\n<p>The Non-profit Civil Company AEGEAS, aware that the Laiko GHA is one of the largest University Hospitals in Greece, while its Sevastoupoleos Street annexe is an internationally acclaimed centre for blood diseases, has made a series of donations to upgrade the Hospital\u2019s building infrastructure and the functioning of its departments, as well as to supply state-of-the-art medical and technological equipment.<\/p>\n\n<p>Furthermore, with a donation from the Non-profit Civil Company AEGEAS the necessary studies were prepared for the rearrangement and renovation of the operating theatres in the Laiko Hospital. On their completion, the Non-profit Civil Company AEGEAS will undertake the implementation of the project in its entirety. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DONATIONS OF THE NON-PROFIT CIVIL COMPANY AEGEAS<\/h4>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u0391\u03bd\u03b1\u03ba\u03b1\u03af\u03bd\u03b9\u03c3\u03b7 \u03c4\u03c9\u03bd \u03ba\u03c4\u03b9\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u03ce\u03bd \u03b5\u03b3\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03c4\u03ac\u03c3\u03b5\u03c9\u03bd \u03c4\u03bf\u03c5 \u03a0\u03b1\u03c1\u03b1\u03c1\u03c4\u03ae\u03bc\u03b1\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2 \u03c4\u03bf\u03c5 \u039b\u03b1\u03ca\u03ba\u03bf\u03cd \u03b5\u03c0\u03af \u03c4\u03b7\u03c2 \u03bf\u03b4\u03bf\u03cd \u03a3\u03b5\u03b2\u03b1\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03c5\u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03b5\u03c9\u03c2.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Renovation of six dormitories for the doctors on-call<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u03a0\u03c1\u03bf\u03bc\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1 \u0399\u03b1\u03c4\u03c1\u03bf\u03c4\u03b5\u03c7\u03bd\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03b3\u03b9\u03ba\u03bf\u03cd \u03b5\u03be\u03bf\u03c0\u03bb\u03b9\u03c3\u03bc\u03bf\u03cd \u03b3\u03b9\u03b1 \u03c4\u03bf \u03a4\u03bc\u03ae\u03bc\u03b1 \u039c\u03b5\u03c4\u03b1\u03bc\u03cc\u03c3\u03c7\u03b5\u03c5\u03c3\u03b7\u03c2 \u0389\u03c0\u03b1\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Renovation of the Urology Clinic\u2019s equipment: 36 electrically adjustable hospital beds with mattresses and bedside cabinets, 2 stretchers and 2 patient transport wheelchairs, 14 overbed tables, and 36 companion chairs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three surgical retractors for liver transplantation procedures (Liver Transplantation Unit).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">REORGANIZATION AND RENOVATION OF THE ANNEXE IN SEVASTOUPOLEOS STREET<\/h4>\n\n<p>The complete overhaul of the second, third and fifth storeys of the Laiko Annexe at 16 Sevastoupoleos Street resolved one of the Hospital\u2019s most serious problems, by creating accommodation for care of patients with rare diseases and for day-care patients with haematological and neoplasmatic conditions.<\/p>\n\n<p>The building infrastructure was radically upgraded, while the supply of medical-technological and hospitality equipment ensures the functioning of modern and comfortable facilities (renovated cytology laboratory, chemotherapy rooms, examination rooms).
