The Palm Grove of Lavrio is a site of unique natural beauty in Attica. The area’s official name is the Kyprianos Palm Grove. Approximately 400 palm trees, planted around 1880, stand there as an integral part of the region’s history and a landmark of the Municipality of Lavreotiki.
Their planting represented an innovative form of biological wastewater treatment for its time, as the trees’ roots absorbed the settlement’s sewage. During the period when the red palm weevil caused extensive damage to palm trees across Greece, AIGEAS AMKE played a decisive role in saving the grove by covering, for consecutive years, the costs of its maintenance and protection against insect infestations. As a result, the Palm Grove has remained alive and thriving.
