The monument stands as a tribute to the fighters from Ambliani in Evrytania, who took part in the heroic defence of the city and fell in battle during the dramatic night of the Exodus, on 10 April 1826. Their sacrifice, inseparably linked to one of the defining events of the Greek War of Independence, is now inscribed within a site that has become a symbol of freedom. The names of the fallen Amblianites are engraved on the monument, preserving the memory of their sacrifice. The work was created by the sculptor Vasilis Papasaikas and now joins the historic landmarks of the Garden of Heroes.

The unveiling ceremony took place on Sunday, 8 March 2026, as part of the commemorative events marking the 200th anniversary of the heroic Exodus of Missolonghi. His Eminence Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania officiated the memorial service and offered prayers for the repose of the fallen. In his brief address, he noted, among other things, that “this monument, for centuries to come, will proclaim their sacrifice, radiate the light of their heroism, and remind us that freedom is never a given, but always demands sacrifice and struggle if we are to enjoy it.”
