Within the pages of this book unfolds the history of the church, which stands as a landmark and point of reference for Vouliagmeni.
The founders of the church, Thanasis and Marina Martinos, having previously published volumes on historic churches both in Greece and across the Greek diaspora, recognize that such publications are not merely art albums; through their collected and annotated material they become valuable tools for understanding the distinct identity of a place.
In the case of Panagia Faneromeni, their contribution proved decisive to the construction, character, and broader presence of the church in the southern suburbs of the capital. The Martinos couple describe the building of the church as “a life’s work of which we are proud,” dedicating the present volume to the late Metropolitan Pavlos and to the former Mayor of Vouliagmeni, Grigoris Kasidokostas.
