The Folklore and Nature-Loving Association “SEMELE” was founded in 2005 with the aim of preserving and promoting elements of Greek folk culture, while also raising awareness among local residents on issues of environmental protection and ecology.
The Association’s activities include the teaching of traditional dances, songs, and musical instruments; theatrical education and expression; fostering awareness of cultural heritage; excursions with participation in local festivities; environmental initiatives; and dance events.
On 20 July 2012, SEMELE organized the 1st Traditional Dance Festival “Ta Oresteia” in the courtyard of the Prophet Elias at Korbi, Vari. “Ta Oresteia” is dedicated to the memory of the Association’s dancer Orestis–Konstantinos Mylonakis, who tragically lost his life on 20 July 2011.
