The 1954 Hague Convention established the “Blue Shield” emblem as the symbol for the protection of cultural heritage sites in the event of armed conflict, serving as the cultural equivalent of the Red Cross.
The Hellenic Committee of the International “Blue Shield” contributes to the activation of institutional mechanisms at both national and international levels for risk mapping and prevention, as well as for disaster management. Greece was the first country in Southeastern Europe to establish a National Committee for the “Blue Shield.”
AIGEAS AMKE has supported the initiative since its founding steps.
