One of the most important events of the Greek War of Independence was the Third National Assembly, which convened on 19 March 1827 in the village of Damalas—today’s settlement of Troezen—and may be regarded as the “founding act” of the modern Greek state. At the initiative of the Cultural Association of Troezen and other local organizations, the site where the Assembly took place was arranged as a square and gathering space, and a commemorative monument to this significant event, along with a bust of Ioannis Kapodistrias, was erected.
On the occasion of the 196th anniversary of the Third National Assembly, a doxology was held at the Holy Church of Saint John in Troezen, followed by the inauguration of the monument and the unveiling of the bust of Ioannis Kapodistrias. AEGEAS AMKE supported the project for the redevelopment of the square and the construction of the monument dedicated to the Third National Assembly.
