“The Glory of Psara”

In July 2021, at the unveiling of the imposing statue “The Glory of Psara,” the Mayor of the island described the essence of the donation by AEGEAS AMKE in the best possible way:
“Today is a historic day for our island. The statue of the ‘Glory of Psara’ at the foot of Mavri Rachi! A dream of decades for all Psarians has become reality. An outstanding sculpture by Nikos Georgiou comes to complement the epic epigram of our national poet Dionysios Solomos and the exceptional painting by Nikolaos Gyzis. Poetry, painting, and sculpture meet, with the ‘GLORY OF PSARA’ at their centre.”

AEGEAS AMKE fully covered the cost of creating the statue in white Pentelic marble, its transportation to Psara, and the construction of its stone base. The installation of the sculpture required the prior reconfiguration of the area at the foot of Mavri Rachi hill.
