Holy Church of the Transfiguration of Christ the Saviour

Construction of the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of Christ the Saviour in the village of Plaka, located 10 km south of Agioi Saranda, began in March 2013. The church was completed one and a half years later, and its inauguration took place on 6 August 2014, the feast day of the church.
The construction of an Orthodox church in the village had long been the dream of its residents and was made possible through the persistent efforts of the Brotherhood of Plakiotes of Northern Epirus, which received support from many donors, among them Athanasios and Marina Martinou.
